Our Beginnings

Fr. Matthias Kakooza, a native of Uganda, first visited the U.S. in 2004 as a visiting priest in Chicago, IL. Over the years, he formed strong relationships and his friends sought ways to support his charitable work.

What began as initial support for basic needs such as transportation (in the form of bicycles) and access to clean water, expanded to include education through the building, expansion and improvement of existing schools and a successful scholarship program.

School Supplies and Soccer Balls

In 2019, funds were raised to provide school supplies and soccer balls to ten schools in Lwamata, Uganda as a gesture of good will and appreciation for their hospitality and time.

Six computers and 30 soccer balls, volleyballs and netballs were distributed.

After talking with students, teachers and administrators a plan to build a new primary school in Mityana, Uganda was born.

Sustainability

With established trust and a desire to have a lasting and sustainable impact, a parcel of land in the community of Mityana is waiting for us to build a brand new primary school. The construction will create jobs for local laborers to support their families. The buildings and infrastructure will provide clean water, power and adequate space to attract talented teachers and experienced administrators. The brightest students will attend without worry about their ability to pay. The future for the students, their families and their community will be brighter.

We listen to and learn from local leaders. Our commitment is to empowerment and self-sustainability. We act in love and solidarity.
